Pallet Project #1
I love pallets and have recently started to do my best to only work on projects with wood from pallets. This being said, my goal is to always make it look as little like a pallet as possible. This is my first pallet project that I completed.
There are a million 'pallet shelves' out there, so I am sure that this is NOT an original design, although I haven't seen another one out there yet, so we shall see.
I took the old pallet and striped it down to single boards (with the base pieces for the two shelves still intake).
I then ripped a board with my skil saw and attached a 1/2" strip to the front to give the pictures (that we will put up) something to rest against
Once I had both of them made I found some studs and put the shelves up... They ended up having a cool look once they were sanded.
The Mrs. did a little reach on the company that makes the pallets and we found out that they are made by a European Association of pallet manufacturers... They apparently do anything shipping related (http://www.epal-pallets.org/uk/home/main.php)... Prreeeeetttty interesting if I do say so myself.
Bought a bunch of frames at the Dollar Store and let Kristen go to town. It ended up turning out better than I hoped it would. Whohoo
How did you attach them to the wall?
ReplyDeleteI drilled 2 holes through the back plate and attached each shelf with mollies I had set in the wall. Since you could customize it, you could drill the holes based on where you locate the studs in your home.
